Nelly Giachanagi was born in Athens but grew up in Thessaloniki.
Since 1969 she has lived and worked in Piraeus, Athens.
She studied Pottery and Painting at Nikaias Municipality school (1994-96) and continued with free studies at the School of Fine Arts of Athens. Since 1996 she has been teaching in both public and private elementary schools in the city of Piraeus and organize end of year exhibitions with the art work of her students.
In 1999 she was invited to present her work both theoretically and practically to postgraduate teachers, at Athens University during their study of Art and Aesthetics.
Her art can be divided in sections as follows: a. Ceramics for daily use such as bowls, plates, candle holders etc. b. Sculpturing c. Wall Pottery d. Painting with oils and drawing with pencil and charcoal
She is a member of the Greek Chamber of Fine Arts and the Association of Greek Pottery Artists.
Her work was shown in two personal exhibitions and at several collective shows in Greece and abroad.
