Mature hamsters
The golden hamster or Syrian hamster Mesocricetus auratus is a rodent belonging to the hamster subfamily , Cricetinae. Their numbers have been declining in the wild due to a loss of habitat from agriculture and deliberate elimination by humans. However, captive breeding programs are well-established, and captive-bred golden hamsters are often kept as small house pets. Syrian hamsters are larger than many of the dwarf hamsters kept as pocket pets up to five times larger , and weigh about the same as a sugar glider , though the wild European hamster exceeds Syrian hamsters in size. They are also used as scientific research animals throughout the world.

Dogs love to run through fields, roll in the grass, dig in the dirt and eat all manner of disgusting morsels. These behaviors expose them to a variety of parasites, both internal and external. Though not as well-known as fleas and ticks, mites are common external parasites of dogs. Almost all dogs have demodectic mites, or Demodex canis. The mites are passed to puppies from their mother while they are nursing, so orphaned puppies who never nursed may not contract the mites. Most of the time, the mites live in parasitic harmony with the dog and do not cause problems. If the dog's immune system is compromised, however, or in times of stress before the immune system is mature, demodectic mites may get out of control.

Some games are great fun for the whole family. Super Mario may engage in level after level of first degree koopacide, but fortunately Nintendo had the good sense to keep the mayhem safe and sanitary. Even fighting games — where the entire object of the genre is to deliver brain damage and internal hemorrhaging against your opponent, pummeling them until they're too weak to throw a single fireball — are pretty safe to play in front of any crowd. Plus your mom thinks Zangief is cute.

Syrian hamsters can make fantastic companions. With their differing personalities and quirky ways, Syrian hamsters can be a wonderful choice of pet and are easy to care for once you know their needs. Before deciding on taking home a Syrian hamster, it is important to know their needs and the commitment they are and to THINK TWICE — ensuring this is a pet that you dedicate time, space and finances to. Syrian hamsters should never be kept in pairs or groups once mature.
