Buy Japanese Maples and Acer Trees: Quality Garden Plants from Jacksons Nurseries
Dwarf maples grow considerably slower than the majority of Japanese maples do. Many of these varieties are found as slow-growing seedling mutations selected for their densely-set buds and sculptural branching. These varieties are very popular for bonsai as well! Slow-growing maples are the most desirable for urban landscapes or small residential gardens. Their slow rate of growth keeps them from growing to be large trees that produce many leaves or provide unwanted shade.

Japanese Maples are slow-growing deciduous trees known for their graceful habit, autumn colour and beautiful, pointed leaf shapes. Many varieties have the species name palmatum after the hand-like shape of the leaves, whilst dissected varieties have fine, deeply-cut foliage that has an almost feathery appearance. Native to Japan and China, they have a beautiful dome-like habit when mature and work well in containers, smaller gardens or when used as an under-storey to larger shrubs and trees. Japanese Maples' compact and non-invasive root systems also make them particularly suitable for growing along ornamental paths or in front of the home.
Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' has seven lobed green foliage in spring and summer, transforming into a blaze of fiery scarlet in autumn. Many believe the award-winning 'Osakazuki' to have the most intense, long lasting scarlet autumn colour of all the Japanese Maples. Ideal for the smaller garden, yet still capable of creating autumn drama in a large garden, Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' is a small tree or large shrub with an attractive open habit. Fairly fast growing as a young specimen, 'Osakazuki' settles down in maturity with an expected maximum height of roughly 4 x 3 metres in 20 years.
